Andrea Bressan
He received a diploma in bassoon from the Vicenza Conservatory of Music under the guidance of Eros Adami as well as a diploma in antique instruments at the Conservatorio "Dall'Abaco" in Verona under Alberto Grazzi, then pursued further studies at the Hochschule of the Mozarteum University in Salzburg and the Musik-Hochschule in Vienna under Milan Turkovic.
The numerous orchestras with which he has performed as Principal Bassoon include the Gustav Malher Jugendorchester, the Orchestra del Gran Teatro La Fenice in Venice, the Orchestra della Svizzera Italiana, the Orchestra del Teatro dell'Opera of Rome, the Orchestra Regionale Toscana, the Mantua Chamber Orchestra, the Orchestra da Camera del Festival Pianistico Internazionale di Brescia e Bergamo, the Orchestra del Teatro Comunale of Bologna, the Orchestra da Camera di Padova e del Veneto, the Haydn Orchestra of Bolzano, and, above all, I Solisti Veneti (from 1989 to 2006) and the Budapest Festival Orchestra (since 1999), with which he has participated in tours of major concert venues in Europe, America, and Asia with conductors such as Claudio Abbado, Ivan Fischer, Daniel Harding, Cristopher Hogwood, Jeffrey Tate, Ottavio Dantone, Roman Kofman, and Franz Velser-Most.
Besides his chamber music projects with musicians such as Alexander Lonquich, Domenico Nordio, Franco Petracchi, Rocco Filippini, Igor Roma, and Bart Schneemann (participating in tours of Holland, France, South Africa, Australia, Turkey, and Italy), he is also interested in jazz (recording for Velut Luna and Artesuono labels), and in antique music and period instruments (collaborating with the Accademia Bizantina, Arte dell'Arco, Venice Baroque Orchestra, and Concerto Italiano).He has made recordings for the Deutsche Grammophone, Archiv, Denon, Channel Classics, Amadeus, and Egea labels.
As a soloist, he won the First Prize at the Concorso Internazionale di Tradate (1991) and a Special Mention at the Viotti International Music Competiton (1986), and maintains a rigorous concert schedule in Italy and Europe with orchestras such as I Solisti Veneti, the Orchestra da camera del Friuli, "I Solisti Italiani", Interpreti Veneziani, and the Orchestra da camera "Lorenzo da Ponte".
He has held advanced training courses and Master Classes in Italy, Austria, Belgium, Hungary, Turkey, Brazil, and Paraguay.
